hey!! so you did this on painter 11? if so please answer the following questions^^

- would it work on a MacBook?
-Do you like what it does?
-Does it work effectively, or do you think you could have chosen a better software?
- would you recommend a Wacom Tablet user to get it?

thanks so much^^

I have painter 8, but I have downloaded trial versions of the newer ones.

It's an awesome program, but virtually impossible to use without a tablet. Unlike Photoshop, it imitates traditional brush strokes really well, and mediums like water color, acrylics, gouache, pencil, etc. It’s lovely for soft shading.

My tablet at the moment is currently busted, so I had to permanently switch over to Photoshop. (where it's very easy to produce art with the mouse)

Photoshop I think is better suited for cell shading, and "sparkles". Ya know, all that fancier stuff. It’s perfect for photo retouching, and a little bit of flash.

Corel painter does some nice animated .GIFs, has a nice scripting program so that if your computer crashes, and you didn’t save, you can still recover your work.

Both have different but great aspects, which is why they are both the top two CG software companies out there right now.

I don’t have a Mac, but I’m looking on the boxes of both my Photoshop and Corel painter. It says here that it should work.

Photoshop is also a bit more expensive than Corel Painter, unless you have a student discount like I did.

A lot of people I know if they have the money, just end up getting both.

But for commercial and business purposes, many will recommend Photoshop.

But others argue you can’t get that “artist” look and feel, and will recommend Corel Painter.

So yeah, in the end it’s all about preference. Hope that answered most of your questions.
